It is a highly detailed one-quarter scale sculpture. Sculpted by well known artist and master sculpture Steve Pinney, this T-rex skull was prodcued by consulting numerous orignial T-rex casts, photos, diagrams, and by visiting the site of one of the worlds most well known and complete Trex skeletons. Evident in this creation are the complex series of sutures and muscle insertions as well as the extra joint in the mandible which enabled the T-rex to open its mouth extra wide. The absence of matrix filling inside the skull allows you to completely understand and visually experience the interior of the cranium. This fossil replica is created from a professional grade casting compound that is 5 times stronger than common plaster. This compound most accurately reflects the look and feel of the original fossil. The skull is 13" long, 8" wide and 11" high and comes with a custom-fit high gloss oak display base and a brass plaque with the name of the species.
